@zanzibar_chamber continues to spearhead the concept of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Zanzibar. The concept focuses on keeping the Islands clean, attract more tourists and create more job opportunities. This week we have successfully conducted the 3rd stakeholder’s technical consultative workshop to dive deeper in the process of establishing the EPR Policy that will extend producers’ and importers’ responsibility to the post-consumption stage of the product, ensuring they contribute in the collection, sorting, and recycling of the waste they produce.
Implementing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy in Zanzibar offers significant advantages as a tourism destination, enhancing Zanzibar's aesthetic appeal, bolstering its reputation as an eco-friendly destination, and supporting sustainable tourism. This is a joint initiative in collaboration with Zanzibar Environment Management Authority (ZEMA), Zaidi Recyclers, and Green Forest Solutions (GFS) from Germany.
